The Accra Financial Division of the High Court is set to hear an application filed by the Special Prosecutor for the confirmation of its decision to freeze about seven bank accounts of the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dappah.
On Tuesday 8, August, court documents was filed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor and a letter was sent to two bank (names withheld), which reads “with immediate effect direct the freezing of the bank accounts and investments of Cecilia Dapaah with your bank pending investigations into the suspected corruption-related offenses in respect to your customer.
This order will take immediate effect and shall be applied to any account and financial asserts held by the named person with branch of your bank and until this order is revoked, your bank shall not allow any transaction on the accounts and investments without the authority of the OSP”
The OSP per the documents, took action in accordance with section 38 of the OSP Act 2017 (Act 959).
Per the documents of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, Cecilia Dapaah has seven accounts with two separate banks.
Investigations are still carried out on her by the Office of the Special Prosecutor for corruption and corruption related offenses following the revelation that she was keeping over $1 million in her Abelemkpe apartment.
