Vice President Dr. Mahamud Bawumia

Solomon Anane, a member of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, has asserted that the Vice President of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is impeding the government led by H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

In a discussion with Hello FM’s Akoto Abon on August 13, 2023, he expressed his disappointment with the Vice President’s ambition to run for the presidency on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket asserting he would bring new ideas to restore the economy.

He said:

What worries me most is that Dr. Bawumia has disappointed Nana Akufo Addo, and it really worries me because when you look at the kind of glory Nana Addo gave to Dr. Bawumia and the kind of mistreatment Dr. Bawumia gave to Nana Addo, it’s only ungrateful people who can do that. Why am I say this? He questioned.

The is because according to the NPP Dr. Bawumia was not having a party card in 2007 and 2008 but Nana Addo informed them he has found someone who is an economic messiah who can help his administration even though he is not a party member, he is going to support his administration”.

Solomon further added that, Dr. Bawumia told Nana Addo he had worked at the Bank of Ghana previously and he is aware there is money in the country so there is no problem in running the country. This led to Nana Addo’s slogan “we are sitting on money yet we are hungry“.

He continued to say Dr. Bawumia’s actions were more or less backstabbing his boss.

“Ever since Nana Addo brought him our finances has been in havoc, with debt to GDP hanging 100% and inflation at an all-time high, and everything in the country being in a complete mess.

“But Dr. Bawumia, for someone to be this good to you, so that you can run for office, you are now stating you have fresh ideas to run for the presidency.

“What kind of wickedness is this?

“If Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia claims to have something in his scheme of work then I ama saddened by how he is treating the government now because Nana Addo is bleeding now,, so Bawumia if you have something extraordinary then do it now”.

Dr. Bawumia will contest for the flagbearership slot with nine other aspirants including former Minister of Trade-Alan Kyerematen and Ken. Agyapong who are seen as main challengers.
